Final Reflection Week 15

1.) Looking back at this semester I honestly would say that I made my fair share of mistakes in this class. I should have completed all the assignments, but due to some events to occur during the semester I fell behind. I wish I could go back and give a better effort. Time organization is very much need in this course and I don't think I properly utilized that.

2.)My joyous moment in this course was when I finally figured out what I wanted my venture to be. I found an idea that I have come to develop greatly over this semester and honestly want to keep pursuing my idea. I look back and realize without this course I wouldn't have had that mindset to develop my own venture.

3.)I can without a doubt say I'm an entrepreneur. I have gained so much knowledge over this semester and now have a complete different look at the idea of developing my own individual venture.

4.)My recommendation to students taking this course in the future would be do your assignments. Its plain and simple if you do the assignments, which you have plenty of time to complete then you will do great in this course. I made the mistake of falling behind due to certain events, but thats no excuse get these assignments done and enjoy the benefits of becoming an entrepreneur.

Week 15 Reading Reflection

1.) Something I found somewhat surprising in the reading was the fact that it mentioned the bottom of the pyramid sector having the possibility of being just as successful as the top. It was rather interesting to see how loans were just given out to women.

2.) Nothing I read in this reading seemed to be confusing. I would say the only point I did find myself even slightly puzzled was over the function of the loans. But after reading over and over I found myself to better understand the material.

3.)First question would be would you change anything about your study if you could? And second if you could take one thing away from this book what would it be?

4.)I didn't encounter any part of the reading as being wrong. The author did show the sexism towards loans during the time, which was rather shocking in a sense.

Venture Concept no.2

The opportunity for my app to flourish in our society is great due to the rapid demand of vegan friendly food. This would help vegan individuals find nutritional information in a quick manner unlike any app out there. This app is also geographically perfect in the sense that there will be a locator on the app that helps students or families to locate vegan friendly restaurants and grocery stores. My Demographic honestly is vast in that veganism is seen from a younger generation to an older mid forty age. Customers are having a hard time locating an app that can assist them in any questions regarding nutritional information. This app will be free at first, but eventually in the long run would like to incorporate a delivery type system.

Customers will value this app because we are assisting them in gaining the information of food products that are vegan friendly and also locating places that offer these vegan friendly products. Students will love this idea due to the assistance it provides for students worried about certain foods they are eating. Our location will be based out of an office where Ill have around 8-9 employees at the start and eventually increase in size over time.

My peers gave me great feedback. They believed that my app was something that would prosper in my market. This app is not seen in the market now, which means I can further develop and lead my market. I did receive advice on better marketing my app, which I am working on continuously everyday.

Celebrating Failure

1.) During this semester I have failed in multiple instances, but when you think about it failure is actually good. I attempted to build a website this semester as a project for my internship. This project was set in place to see how far I could progress in a short deadline. My site was built off the idea of business venture in this class. A site that would globally help those whom are vegan or nutritional people have access to a website that would locate restaurants, grocery store, and even have a social media presence to see reviews for certain restaurants or the quality of certain grocery stores. I failed though in this process as I took my time to develop the website and seek perfection.
2.)What did I learn that is an easy question to answer. By failing I was able to see what I needed to do to perfect my work. Failing made me want to prove that I could accomplish what I failed upon. I realized not everybody is perfect and that failing is a part of life. And that you have to just brush off your shoulders and move on to a bigger and better idea.
3.)I used to be that person who if I would fail I would simply just give up and have that thought of not being good enough, but as I have grown up I realize now that failure is a great thing. I know that sounds crazy, but failure on an idea doesn't mean simply give up it means make the idea better and eliminate what caused you to fail before. I for one in this class have learned that risk are worth taking. By learning about the concept of being an actual entrepreneur it has shown that a lot goes into having a successful business concept, but that failure is common and just shows that its inevitable to not face failure at one point in your life.

Week 13 Reading Reflection

1.) While reading through this weeks reading I found myself to be most surprised by the model of traditional pricing and how the net worth and salaries factor into the pricing becoming different. Another aspect was the checklist provided in the text showing the proper way to analyze a business, which caught me off guard.

2.) I wouldn't say I found myself too confused during the reading, but I do wish the author would have properly defined certain words that were commonly used through out like undercapitalization. The other minor confusion was on discounted earnings method.

3.) First question and that would be does avoiding start up cost eventually lead to an advantage. Second question I had is how could two business be valued the same, but one does not have a sufficient return.

4.) I didn't find anything in the reading to be wrong at all. The author did a spectacular job at properly describing mostly everything we read meaning terminology and using proper models.

My Exit Strategy

1.) When looking at my exit strategy towards my business venture I would easily say that I would stick with my idea and further develop it to where I see its full potential is being accessed. This would be of course give me time to further build up my business venture, which in my mind would flourish in the vegan world/ nutritional lifestyle .

2.) My goal is to  produce an app that can can dominate the mobile app world in producing an app that will not only provide specific details regarding nutritional values of food, but also through a location finder and the ability to provide reviews via social media that will connect an app that will bring together different array of age demographics. By keeping my company and building over time I think I will be able to eventually retire relatively early in my mind.

3.)I had honestly never thought about my exit strategy until this exercise came about so looking at my business venture I didn't factor that into what I wanted to accomplish. I do see now that I should have done this. But I see how having a different mindset towards an exit strategy can alter how you build your company. My sense the entire time was to build off this idea and create a company that I could further develop through my life and eventually retire. By having the potential backing of grocery chains and having little advertisements I can see further growth through my exit strategy.

Week 12 Reading Reflection

1.)In this reading I didn't find anything to be too surprising. I did find myself very confused on the SWOT analysis discussed in the reading.

2.)I found the strategy matrix to be somewhat confusing and wish more was discussed on the strategy matrix.

3.)My first question would be can you further define decentralization and second would can you in a sense explain the strategic actions?

4.)There was nothing that I disagreed with in this reading.

Week 11 Reading Reflection

1.) I found this reading to be rather interesting the sense that it talked about innovation strategy and its importance among business ventures.
2.) I didn't find much of the reading to be confusing, but did struggle a little bit with understanding the demand push.
3.) If I could ask two question to the author I would ask if you had a take on innovation map what would be your view as to whether or not the info is correct. My second question is disruptive innovation does it play a major role in start up business ventures?
4.) I wouldn't necessarily say I disagreed with anything the author had to say, but his views on change were somewhat iffy and could be debated as to not being accurate.

Amazon Whisperer

- My revenue drivers are the revenue built from corporate partnerships with grocery chains and restaurants.

- The next thing that my customers would want would be a service that provides you the possibility to order say groceries or food from restaurants via the app.

-This would allow my customers to instead not only be able to locate certain vegan friendly restaurants/ grocery stores, but also have the option to order pick up or even deliver.

-My product is a something that can't be found on amazon .

Growing My Social Capital

1) One person must be a domain expert in your industry.
The domain expert I found was Vegan Restaurant Finder. I was able to email this company, but couldn't arrange a time to talk on the phone so I continued emailing back and forth. This company is essentially what I want to implement in my app, but lacks the nutritional information on certain foods. Through email I was able to find out how they are able to make a profit and what they recommended me doing to improve my idea. I was told to incorporate a system that allows for consumers to recommend places that are relatively small that offer vegan friendly food. Essentially allowing  a sharing aspect using forms of social media.

2.) One person must be an expert on your market.
The expert on my market is The Vegetarian Resource Group. I originally had no idea where to look so I googled my market and found this group. I went ahead and emailed and was lucky enough to get a number of someone that worked there. The information they told me was pretty much what was already on their page, but they did tell me their initiative of educating on veganism and the issues related to health.

3) One person must be an important supplier to your industry.
I contacted McDaniel Nutrition Therapy as a way to learn how my app can go about garnering information on food products. I simply contacted this company due to my knowledge of nutritionist in Missouri( used to live there). I was not able to reach the company via phone so I sent a email and heard back a couple days later. I was told plain and simple that in order to gain the information regarding certain foods is by looking at research done and incorporating that into determine whether or not a product is vegan. They also mentioned that now with all the technological advances that gaining information is accessible by many other sources.
Finally: Reflect
This experience helped me learn a lot about what I need to go moving forward on my business venture. I was nervous at first to contact all these individual companies, but learned after talking to all my experts that I don't need to be nervous and that any questions I had they would discuss and help me better understand.

Week 10 Reading Reflection

1.)This reading very much reminded me of accounting and the information learned in that course. Was very much surprised to see it in the reading.

2.) The information was not really confusing to me since I had taken a class that provided similar information.

3.) Is it necessarily required to have a familiar background with accounting before starting a business venture. Also why does such a small percent of patents turn out a profit?

4.) I wouldn't say there wasn't anything wrong in this reading, but do find the information to seem discouraging to those seeking to make it with certain patents. Also I understand the reasoning behind this reading, but is it that important for an entrepreneur to have this complete knowledge.

Elevator Pitch No.3 Week 10

1.)Video:
https://youtu.be/4V9kifyzWKs

2.) What stood out to me as I read reviews was the importance of my appearance. I have generally just worn simple clothing i.e. t-shirt, which I have immediately changed that trend and in this video appear to be more professional. Also I need to slow down, which is something that has been pointed out numerous times.

3.) I have altered all my faults from before meaning my appearance and my speaking technique. Instead of mumbling random things for my idea I directly get to the point.

Sunday, March 13, 2016

Week 9 Reading Reflection

1.) The biggest surprise to me in the reading was by far the different methods used for research. Also was fascinating to see that companies still use antiqued methods such as surveying via mail, which you would think with all the advancements in technology would eliminate this.
2.)I struggled understanding the tables used to explain certain techniques. I also found the sales philosophy to be somewhat confusing in terms that it could be simply one philosophy rather than two separate.
3.) Is the advancement of marketing that important for a successful venture. Second how much is dependent upon market segmentation?
4.)Honestly looking at the reading I don't find myself disagreeing with anything the author talked about.

Idea Napkin 2 Week 9

1.) My talents range from my ability to lead and manage big projects. This product has brought out my creative side regarding finding an idea that is original in the industry Im trying to make it in. My aspirations for this company is to build up a company founded on the belief of providing information to assist fellow vegan consumers.
2.) The product I'm offering is an app that essentially allows the consumer to access information on products and whether or not they are vegan friendly. A perk of the app is there is also a location setting where individuals can locate restaurants and grocery stores that offer vegan friendly products.
3.) The demographic my product is trying to reach would be a much more younger crowd. Vegan products seem to be huge in areas such as, Northwest, Northeast and the southwest.
4.) Customers will actually need this app due to the importance of knowing which products are vegan friendly and having the access to a location type app that will make it easier for people out and about wanting to find a vegan friendly place to eat.
5.) What sets me apart from other similar ideas is that we offer the app that most websites lack and have an extensive data system that contains information regarding nutrition that vegan consumers lack right now.
These 5 elements are completely necessary for the assistance in idea. After reading all the feedback I have received for my idea I have come to the conclusion that all my feedback is centered around the brand and the image I sell to the consumer. I need to first have a title that not only represents what my brand is all about but also attracts interest in my idea.
Feedback Memo:
Brand Importance: Have to properly market my product. Im doing a better job at this by thinking of a name called Veganfi.
Location : The location is extremely important for my product. By being a primarily vegan product it helps being centrally located in a population that is focused on the green type lifestyle.
Revenue: My product is going to start off as a free app and slowly rise up to .99 cents after a testing stage.
Focusing on specific demographic: I originally thought this idea would be range from 18-50, but as I ask around and presenting my idea it seems as if this idea will be primarily aimed at mid 20's demographic.
Marketing: I'm aiming at presenting my idea to various companies that are associated with vegan friendly food, such as grocery chains.

Week 8 Reading Reflection

1.) What I found in the reading that stood out to me the most was the financial aspect of starting a business. I am aware of the difficulties, but in the reading I discovered that it's a lot more complex to receive a loan or even small financing. This is helpful to me due to my wanting to eventually venture out on my own personal ideas and build a scalable business.

2.) I found the part about private placements to be somewhat confusing. Being relatively new to the ideas/ concepts centered around the idea of entrepreneurship I didn't see this concept coming into play, but this article mentioned it.

3.) If I could ask the author two questions I would ask are Angel investors worth it and if so could you go into depth on how to properly go in this route. My second question is in order to gain financial backing I would have give a percentage of my company how would you recommend going this route.

4.) I would say the author was pretty on point in the reading and didn't contain anything that I would disagree with. I found this reading to be exceptionally helpful for young entrepreneurs like myself who don't fully understand the big picture of gaining financial backing to create our own ideas.

Half-way Reflection Week 8

1.) I have developed better time management that is essential to success in this course. I have also found that you need to think out of the box in this course. Thinking out of the box is crucial in the assignments due, which consist of our own business concepts.
2.) A time during this course that I thought about giving up was probably a couple weeks ago. Being a full time student it's hard to remember to take the time to go out and fulfill the requirements in order to receive points for assignments. But what you have to remember is you signed up for this course and no matter what assignments need to get done or else you are just essentially failing yourself. I have learned that giving up is simply not an option and you will prosper with the knowledge gained in this course as long as you continue to work hard.
3.) For a student taking this course next semester I have three tips to being successful. First don't think you can just get by easily in this course since it is online you need to time manage. Second, Look through syllabus and make sure you can gain the resources to complete assignments on time. Third, develop what it is that you want to achieve as an entrepreneur. This course is centered around all our own unique ideas, so why not work on something you will enjoy or else you won't have the urge to continue in the course.

Week 7 Reading Reflection

1.) My biggest surprise in the reading was the incorporation of a certain individual to get the consumer to garner an image of something they need, which in turn is not necessarily accurate. The author also mentions the importance of timing and how impacts the market.

2.) I wouldn't say I was entirely confused, but there were parts in the reading that I wish the author would go further into detail for example, the attitudes toward buying decisions.

3.) My questions I would ask the author would be centered around what if the customer does fully meet his or her needs and how he would properly go about changing that. Next I would ask for the author to explain the shallow end/ decisions for a business.

4.) I found myself mostly agreeing with everything the author mention in this reading. I would like to say that I agree with what the author had to say about uniqueness in the market. By having this trait it helps your company gain a somewhat edge with an idea that is not yet overly present in society.

Free Money Week 7

https://youtu.be/S2g6LGangJ4

https://youtu.be/neClG10JOwo

For my video I decided to walk around my apartment complex and ask residents if they would like a dollar. I decided to walk around my apartment complex because with constant inflow of people returning home and heading to library is great. My plan is just to simply offer a dollar and if asked why then I will simply note that my intentions are to help make someones day better by showing a sign of gratitude towards them. My belief that I would give away the money did not go as planned, where as I only got one person to accept the free money. I was somewhat surprised at first, but ultimately I realized that most people were confused by my random act of kindness and the basic instinct was to say thank you but no.

Elevator Pitch No. 2 Week 7

1.) https://youtu.be/3lEcXr-3MQ4
2.) I received a lot of positive feedback with my idea, the only things I found out that I need to work on is gaining the proper name of my app and a way to properly advertise this app.
3.) What I changed after the feedback was very minimal actually. I found that my app is on the right track just little things like advertising and marketing the app just need some minor adjustments to be on the right way to success.

Week 6 Reading Reflection Week 6

1.)  After reading the required week 6 reading I found some information that was very interesting to me. I had no idea of the average profitability in U.S. Industries. This information was staggering where as some industries had extremely low numbers i.e. airlines, which had a 5.9 percent profitability.

2.) I wouldn't necessarily say I was confused by this information, but it was something I had over looked. The text mentioned that fast growing industries do not need to be attractive. As I have been thinking about my business concept and the need to have a certain image I forgot that industry does not rely on certain attractiveness i.e. gas, oil

3.) Two questions I would ask the author are one how did you gain the financial information to report the numbers for U.S. Profitability for Industries and the second question I would ask would be I saw you mention overall profit gain How would someone in my shoes find a way to gain profit gain from an app that would essentially be starting off nothing( low budget).

4.) Looking at the information provided in the text I don't necessarily find any information that I would necessarily disagree with. I would say maybe the attractiveness of industry is rather important. If you look at the numbers provided in the text you see Cosmetics and retail being high up on the profitability chart.

Customer Interviews No. 3 Week 6

1.) The type of questions I'm going to ask in my interviews are where does my interviewee see my concept fitting into everyday society. Also I want to receive feedback regarding ideas to advance my app into the market immediately.

2.)
Interview 1: Individual being interviewed Chase
Reaction: What is your Opinion ?
Looking at your idea I definitely see something that can make it in the market. I have seen the rise in entrepreneurs trying to break into the app game, but your idea is original in the sense that it differs in comparison to other apps that lack the advancements in which you are trying to put forward.

Interview 2: Individual being interviewed Griffin
Reaction: What is your Opinion?
I like your business concept, but my main question is how will you properly gain this information it just seems like a lot of information to compile.

Interview 3: Individual being interviewed Bea
Reaction: What is your Opinion?
As a vegan I am extremely excited with that I just read. Your business idea is brilliant in the fact that it will majorly help those who are/ thinking of being vegan. I personally have struggled with figuring out which places offer vegan food because most of the apps of websites don't properly work or lack the data.
Interview 4: Individual being interviewed Oswaldo
Reaction: What is your Opinion?
Business idea is very well put together. I would make sure that the name you choose is something you think will properly stand out in the market. Your app has all the elements to be extremely successful, but make sure you properly market it with the name and right image you want to sell.
3.) What I learned from these interviews was that I need to make sure I have the proper name, which I have yet to decide on in order to either draw interest or not. I also need to find the right way to obtain all the data, which I'm doing as of means by looking at grocery websites that offer food nutritional information.

Idea Napkin No. 1 Week 6

1.) My talents/skills consist of exceptional public speaking, logical thinking and the ability to adapt in the market place. My aspirations are to be able to immediately provide my services/ product immediately in an area that could thrive. My concept is to create an app that helps the vegan community.

2.) The product I’m offering to the customer is an app that allows the customer to have access to whether or not a certain food item from various stores are vegan.  Along with the app comes the extra perk of the app locating the individual’s location and informing what places that are vegan friendly are around the area.

3.) What my customers have in common is the need to have access to whether or not a food product is suitable for vegans. The nutritional information will be provided and then a list of possible places to get the product’s are made available on the app.

4.) My idea at first is to generate interest in the app by starting off the app at 99 cents, but by advertising the available shops to bring in more revenue.

5.) What sets me apart is my app will actually work. There are a lot of apps out there for vegans, but don’t properly work or have restrictions on what food is on the app. I have found that when you go on these different apps the odds of not finding out what you want is great.

I find that my idea is original in the sense that I have not been able to locate an app that provides what my app is trying to do. My weakness is there is some difficulty trying to get a food app out in the market.

Week 5 Reading Reflection Week 5

1.) While reading this weeks chapter I found the reported new venture starts up to be higher than I expected. With more than 600,000 firms emerging I found it astonishing that the number is rapidly increasing with over 500,000 applications each year.
2.) I found lifestyle ventures to be a little confusing just based on the fact that it seems this type of route is something the entrepreneur would try to partially avoid. Yes believing in a product is important, but revenue is usually a large reason behind the idea.
3.)If I could talk to the author and ask a couple question I would then ask is How did you get the access to the high tech firms in order to gain your information regarding why new ventures fail. My Second question would be what do you recommend for first time entrepreneurs and when they should take the " leap of faith" into the venture world?
4.) I honestly found nothing I could disagree with. The information provided in this chapter was pretty spot on on what I thought numbers would be for failure and success rates.

Top 5 World Problems Week 4

Most Serious

1.) Gender Inequality- Around the world there is an overwhelming difference between male and female in the job market and has a huge impact on individual communities worldwide.

2.) Global Warming- This issue has been widely debated for a very long time, but with the increase in carbon monoxide into our atmosphere the earth is slowly reach the danger area.

3.) Wars- Wars cause large percentages of casualties that devastate certain areas. Also with war comes abuse of weaponry i.e.. nuclear weapons.

4.)The constant spread of Disease- The harmful affects of diseases causes major issues among the world. These diseases cause death and hurt the communities economically.

5.) Economics- With the increasing debt nations across the globe face its hard to see how this couldn't be a major problem. With government spending on certain fields that don't necessarily need funding increases to major issues that effect everyday citizens.

Reason:
The reason behind choosing my top problem as gender inequality and continued to keep the first five I had originally put in the " The Top 10 Problems" was due to my strong belief that they are actually the top 5 for both category's. Gender inequality by far is the most serious problem because with gender inequality it divides the society and causes economic prosperity to downfall. Gender inequality is not right and is seen world wide no matter where you go.

Solutions:

Solution- Implement a law that allows for equal opportunities for women among the workforce. Individuals will argue against gender inequality, but in economically poor areas the abuse of women and their rights are non existent.

Solution- Create more programs that help restrict the emissions being put into our atmosphere. Also have industries being regulated to the standards of which restrict them from producing more harmful products for the earth we live on.

Solution- Have a better system in place that allows for both sides to peacefully agree upon a compromise.

Solution- More money invested into finding ways to cure these diseases or to prevent more spreading.

Solution- With government spending on certain fields that don't necessarily need funding increases to major issues that effect everyday citizens.

Reason: The reason behind my selecting of the gender inequality solution as the most implementable solution was because with the world becoming more prominent with women leaders in various industries its causing the opportunity for this to actually happen more likely. With the strides of women leaders in i.e. United States it shows that women deserve rights and opportunities in smaller less poor nations.

Identifying Local Opportunities Week 3

1.)Path to curb domestic violence homicides scrutinized as many skip court-ordered counseling

http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2016-01-23/story/path-curb-domestic-violence-homicides-scrutinized-many-skip-court
This story goes on to talk about the lack of involvement and awareness towards enforcing villains to attend intervention courses where they can come to an understanding of their actions in the past( usually known to have an domestic violence background).
The story points out that overtime judges and police force tend to not pay attention to the criminals in which need to attend these classes and ultimately this leads to terrible acts of violence.
The judicial system has the problem with not properly maintaing a better system that improves the compliance and use of these intervention type programs for violent offenders.

2.) Clay commission looks for new revenue to pay for improvement projects
http://jacksonville.com/community/clay/2016-01-23/story/clay-commission-looks-new-revenue-pay-improvement-projects
Clay county in the simplest terms is trying to raise the sales tax to be able to afford improvements on such things as schools and animal shelters.
The problem faced is that the new idea for a one cent increase causes a mix of emotions toward voters and the citizens living in the district. The people dealing with this problem are the citizens who are affected with the increase. There is also the agresti plan which looks at other sources of bringing in revenue that requires fees to build the infrastructure in the community.

3.) Winn-Dixie lowering prices in search of an upside
http://jacksonville.com/business/2016-01-23/story/winn-dixie-lowering-prices-search-upside?utm_source=story_rail_recommendations&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=cxense
Winn Dixie is cutting prices in order to make up for the lack of business due to increasingly high competition from publix or healthier chains, such as, Fresh Market or Whole Foods.
The problem this causes is that winn dixie makes fellow competitors lower prices in order to one up, but eventually this just hurts the entire food industry. Winn Dixie has the problem because now they pay more for products and then ultimately discount the food, which causes a loss in revenue.

Week 3 Reading Reflection

1.) After reading chapter 2 for week three something that stuck out to me was the great research on entrepreneurial cognition and the different characteristics that came with an entrepreneur.  By using " simplified" mental models entrepreneurs are able to come up new innovations in the market. I had no idea that some much research has gone into figuring out the inner mindset of an entrepreneur.

2.)  The part of the reading that I found somewhat confusing was the communicating with employees under dealing with stress. My confusion is that this statement is not entirely true in some cases. For example, say someone works in a small family business doesn't mean that each employees is going to respect the other maybe with concern over pay and power.

3.) My first question to ask the author would be how did you go about gaining the information for finding the information you did on overbearing need for control. I understood what the text meant, but want to figure out how exactly someone can see that external control on someone and comprehend. My second question was how did the psychic risk come about. I have never heard this term before and am curious as to how this ultimately came to be the greatest risk to the well being of entrepreneurs.

4.)I would say the thing I found wrong was the area devoted to dealing with the stress. I find it that sometimes getting away from problems i.e. vacation that it causes an individual to become more stress because one they are going to still have that working mentality instead of a relaxing one. I also found that communication creates less stress based on the fact that some business might have a lot of employees that makes communicating more difficult, but if the business was smaller you still face the risk of having issues with employees. This would in turn create more stress.

Very Short Interview No. 1 Week 3

For my interview I decided to interview my family friend Jenny Carney who has managed to create her own beach front home rental company in Jacksonville, FL. I asked Mrs. Carney a various amount of questions that helped me gain a better understanding of how an entrepreneur thinks and what got her interested in pursuing a career based on her own doing.

Question 1- Mrs. Carney I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to meet with me today and helping me gain a better understanding of how to be an entrepreneur. First question I would like to ask is how did you first come to the idea of pursuing a career in the beach front rental industry.
Answer- I originally had the idea of pursing a degree in something eduction based, i.e. teacher. I started to have the idea of branching off this common path and creating a company that I thought could be my own model and belief. My husband actually was an advertiser and somewhat of an entrepreneur himself so by looking at how he was making a living drew my interest greatly.

Question 2- Coming from an entrepreneur can you give me an idea on what I should expect to learn in this course.
Answer- This course will help you form ideas of what exactly makes an entrepreneur because there are a lot of paths one can take to creating a successful business. What you will learn is that failure is common, but by being an entrepreneur you will know that failure just helps you become more motivated in finding a path to success.

Question 3- My last question and pretty basic question is what does it exactly mean to be an entrepreneur?
Answer- Thats a very good question and honestly it varies from individual to individual. For me being an entrepreneur it means that I'm someone that is go getter in an industry that can either make or break a business. In most cases people go into industries that can become extremely overpopulated with the same ideas, I thought by going to Jacksonville , which is an economy that is showing signs of upward mobility for start ups could help lead to a boom in my business.

Reflection- Honestly after interviewing Mrs. Carney I learned that looking at the economic background of a certain area is essential to where a company starts up. For example, she looked at the upward trend in jacksonville , which is different then the usual individual wanting to go to new york( overpacked with similar individuals). Also the idea that failure is key to success that was something that I really never thought about.

World"s Biggest Problems Week 3

I will provide the worlds ten biggest problems( not in order).
1.) Gender Inequality- Around the world there is an overwhelming difference between male and female in the job market and has a huge impact on individual communities worldwide.
Solution- Implement a law that allows for equal opportunities for women among the workforce. Individuals will argue against gender inequality, but in economically poor areas the abuse of women and their rights are non existent.
2.) Global Warming- This issue has been widely debated for a very long time, but with the increase in carbon monoxide into our atmosphere the earth is slowly reach the danger area.
Solution- Create more programs that help restrict the emissions being put into our atmosphere. Also have industries being regulated to the standards of which restrict them from producing more harmful products for the earth we live on.
3.) Wars- Wars cause large percentages of casualties that devastate certain areas. Also with war comes abuse of weaponry i.e.. nuclear weapons.
Solution- Have a better system in place that allows for both sides to peacefully agree upon a compromise.
4.)The constant spread of Disease- The harmful affects of diseases causes major issues among the world. These diseases cause death and hurt the communities economically.
Solution- More money invested into finding ways to cure these diseases or to prevent more spreading.
5.) Economics- With the increasing debt nations across the globe face its hard to see how this couldn't be a major problem. With government spending on certain fields that don't necessarily need funding increases to major issues that effect everyday citizens.
6.)Lack of clean water- In increasingly poor areas the access to clean water is not there, which causes to increase in diseases and the rise in death rates.
Solution- Implement a system where water is available to these communities, more funding can go along way in solving the problem.
7.) Population- The rise in the global population is leading to more pollution, less in resources and causing economies to suffer.
Solution- Im not sure if there is really a solution to this issues, unless countries want to implement a system where only a certain amount of children can be born to a family.
8.) Obesity- I personally find this a major issue, because with the increase in obesity it creates a certain image for nations, such as the United States.
Solution- Make people more aware of the downside of eating unhealthy, also place bans on certain items in which fast food companies sell.
9.) Energy- Energy is starting to become more difficult to obtain as the demand is always getting higher.
Solution- Find other sources that are good for our climate to produce energy to supply.
10.) Terrorism- Terrorism is something that I believe we will always see throughout time, but certain things can be done to alter this belief.
Solution- Continue gaining information, but find a way to infiltrate the organization from within. I believe the military will become more technical in the way they operate and will have a stronghold on stopping terrorist acts.

My Entrepreneurship Story Week 2

A time in my life where I was first exposed to entrepreneurship would have to be when I was in 8th grade and my dad ventured out to create a new business. My father built a yoga/ nutrition company from the bottom up to be a successful company in the span of a couple years. This experience got my mind thinking as to how being an entrepreneur is actually perceived. The false belief that entrepreneurs don't have an actual job is completely false the reality is that entrepreneurs like my father shape the backbone for the society we live in. Ever since I witnessed this my belief system turned to the idea that I too could build something based off my own ideas and ambitions.

Introduction Week 2

Hello Class,

To start off my name is Patrick Jordan I'm a junior transfer from Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. I attended Loyola University of New Orleans last year, which was a great experience and helped me become more familiar with different surroundings and people that I was not accustomed to. Something pretty interesting about myself would have to be that I'm a triplet. Life is not easy being a triplet a lot of fights and not to mention the cost of three kids can be a hassle. But overall my life has been great having a bunch of siblings to make sure that my boredom doesn't overtake my life. This is just a little about myself and will continue talking about my life and aspirations throughout this blog.
